International Tropical Fruit Network (TFNet) was involved in the recent training course on ‘Advanced Technologies on Tropical Fruit Production, Postharvest Techniques and Agricultural Marketing for Asean Countries’ from 2-15 May 2010 at the Agricultural Extension Training Institute, Serdang, Malaysia. The course was organized by the Malaysian Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan. Twenty participants from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam attended the course.

The objective of the course was to:

•  Enhance participants technical knowledge and understanding of the latest development in the global tropical fruit industry

•  Exchange information and experiences on the current development in areas of production, post-harvest techniques and marketing of the participating countries

•  Enable participants to prepare a plan of action on tropical fruits production in their respective countries by incorporating ideas and knowledge acquired from the training workshop.

The CEO, Project Officer and Information Officer from TFNet were involved as resource persons and facilitators for the course.
