The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry is developing a traceability system called ‘Mi-Trace’ for the export of frozen durian to China.
Its minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the system which would be fully implemented in June this year would put an end to the problem of frozen durians that do not meet the required standards from entering the Chinese market.
He said the system which had received the endorsement of Agriculture Quarantine Service Inspection of China (AQSIQ) entailed the ‘from farm to table’ concept.
“Frozen durian has been picked for a pilot project for this traceability system because of its high potential as a premium product in China and Hong Kong,” he said when launching the ‘Mi-Trace’ system here yesterday.
