Most people, if not all, like to peel off pineapple skin before enjoying the fruit but a recent recipe shared on Facebook might convince you otherwise.
It turns out that you can make good beer out of pineapples!
You need around 3 pineapples, sugar, water and a cooler. How simple is that?
Tepache (Mexican Pineapple Beer) is easy to prepare and some Nairobians want to try it out at home.
After dicing the fruit into small pieces, you need to put them in a container and add sugar, not too much.
Add water into the mixture and a pinch of cinnamon to taste. Apparently, the more the sugar content, the stronger the beer.
You can add some yeast but that is only if you don’t need the pineapple peels.
Seal the mixture for three days and do not open it unless you intend to drink it because this gives room for bacteria.
You know what will happen if you drink it at that stage.
After the third day, carefully filter the drink to leave out the pineapple pieces and seal it for at least a day.
At this point, if it is too thick you can add water to taste and there you are. Your pineapple beer will be ready to drink.
