We would like to wish our members, partners, stakeholders and supporters a happy new year!

A new decade and year have dawned. A wealth of abundant opportunities awaits to be tapped.

This year, the International Tropical Fruits Network turns 20! Since its establishment under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) in the year 2000, TFNet prides itself as the sole global network on tropical fruits with efforts dedicated towards enhancing human resource development, functioning as a repository that facilitates exchange of information on production, processing, marketing, consumption of tropical fruits, and sharing technical expertise in the tropical fruit sector. TFNet’s success and achievements would not have been possible if not for the continuous support of stakeholders including our host country Malaysia through its Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (MOA), FAO, Country Members, Associate Members and Ordinary Members. Throughout the years, initiatives undertaken since our inception have benefitted thousands of stakeholders, researchers and industry players including smallholders.

TFNet’s membership continues to grow – a testament of the relevance and importance of TFNet’s work to address the needs of the tropical fruit industry. Among member benefits include access to information and expertise within the network, participation in collaborative projects, studies; and also in human resource development programs.

TFNet maintains the focus of the network in membership expansion, financial sustainability, and increasing its relevance and visibility through projects and activities. Highlights of upcoming activities for this year include:

  • A training workshop on the management of TR4 FOC in China with partners such as Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS);
  • The annual International Symposium on Tropical Fruits (ISTF), expected to take place in India;
  • A national conference on tropical fruits in Malaysia;
  • And a number of training courses of relevance with respective partners.

To enhance the network’s effectiveness while broadening our influence and creating greater impact, TFNet is in the midst of updating and expanding its roster of experts. We invite members with expertise in areas related to tropical fruits to be part of our roster of experts. Kindly fill in the form available here: to register your interest.
