From August 1 to October 2 of this year, Peru exported 2,447,543 kilos of fresh mango, representing a growth of +950% compared to the 233,115 kilos registered in the same period of the previous year.
This was confirmed by the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, who explained that of the total shipped in that period, 2,296,727 kilos correspond to the Piura region, which meant an increase of +900% compared to the 229,472 kilos shipped in the same period of 2022, that is, shipments multiplied 10 times.
In the case of Áncash, he said that from August 1 to October 2, 62,112 kilos have been shipped, meaning an increase of +1,605% versus the 3,643 kilos sent in the same period of 2022. In the case of La Libertad, it has not yet been They register dispatches.
He added that in September 2023 alone, Peru shipped 2,418,715 kilos of fresh mango, when in September of the previous year 66,372 kilos were exported.
“Specialists say that the mango has not flowered in this 2023/2024 campaign (October-March), but if that were the case there would be no early fruit. The campaign has started very well, however, we are going to wait, since it is predicted that production and exports would fall considerably”, he concluded.
