A dragon fruit farmer in the Western Division is encouraging women and youths with arable land to seriously think of farming for a living, as he has not regretted venturing into this business since 2020. Atish Kumar of Buabua in Lautoka can attest to the wonders of farming dragon fruit, as he has already harvested 960 kilograms of dragon fruit this season, with sales revenue reaching $14,000.

It is estimated that his yield will double next year.

Kumar is the largest dragon fruit grower in the Western Division, as he now has 800 dragon fruit plants covering about half acres of land. He hopes to continue expanding his farm and is also encouraging farmers across Fiji to tap into dragon fruit farming. 14 farmers in Fiji are engaged in promoting dragon fruit cultivation.
