The Philippine Fruit Association is set to hold the 20th National Fruit Symposium on 23-25 October 2012 at Central Mindanao University, Bukidnon.
Bearing the theme “Opportunities and and Challenges in Fruit Production Amidst Climate Change,” the Symposium aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and strategies in creating opportunities and surmounting challenges confronting the Philippines’ fruit production industry.
The Symposium will include plenary and technical sessions, oral presentations, and a poster exhibition on the following topics:
- Climate Change and Fruit Production
- Fruit Production and Postharvest Technologies
- Product Development
- Access to Financing
- Market opportunities to Improve Fruit Productivity, Quality, and Profitability
A farmers’ forum on best production practices of selected fruits will also be conducted. Experts are also available for one-on-one consultations with farmers during the symposium. An educational field trip to farms and multinational plantations is scheduled on Oct 26.
