China’s import of durian increased by 20.41% from 2009 to 2010, with a value of US$149.55 million. Malaysia succeeded in exporting approximately 200 metric tons of frozen durian to China, valued about 5 million USD. More details can be read here.

 

Here is Malaysia’s step-by-step process in preparing frozen durian pulp for export:

Step 1: Selected Clones of Fresh fruits collected at the farm

Step 2: Selected fruits are weighed and loaded into refrigerated trucks

Step 3:  Fresh fruits are transported via refrigerated trucks to processing plant

Step 4: Fresh fruits are cleaned, brushed and washed to remove dust and dirt at the processing plant

Step 5: Pulps are removed from husk

Step 6: Pulps are placed in the plastic trays

Step 7: Pulp trays are weighed individually (500g/tray)

Step 8: plastic trays are stacked in trolleys and kept in Blast freezer chamber at -30°C for 30 minutes

Step 9: Frozen fruit pulp vacuum packed and inserted into individual boxes

Step 10: Frozen fruits trays packed into carton boxes

Step 11: Frozen fruits shipped through frozen container

  1. At step 9.how are the loose pulp vacuum packed? Are they loosely filled into the vaccum packaging?
