Shenzhen customs in China had destroyed imported bananas from the Philippines according to CCTV News.
Customs officials in Shenzhen city, Guangdong Province, destroyed a batch of unqualified bananas imported from the Philippines on Friday, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The bananas that weighed 34.78 tons and worth 33,000 US dollars didn’t meet the food safety standards – they had a residue of 0.199 mg/kg Carbendazim, a variety of pesticide used on cereals and fruits, which exceeded the maximum amount of 0.1mg/kg as allowed in China.

It is the first time that Shenzhen customs officials have destroyed imported fruits in such a large scale.

Such move the Chinese government has drawn mix reactions from the netizens. One said that instead of throwing “those bananas they could have donated to those who are starving”.
Another Netizen wrote the hypocrisy of the Chinese government talking about standards of products while they are known to the world as the producers of fake and substandard products. But one said that this move of China is a wake up call to all countries to look out to ban all substandard products manufactured in China.
